Colonial and Revolutionary American Writing
This course will explore the body of writing that was produced in the colonial period and the years of the American Revolution. We will begin in the early 18th century with its Great Awakening and colonial classicist poets. Reading autobiographical texts and historical fiction about the period, we will learn about the colonial period, including the French and Indian Wars and the ideological shifts that made the American Revolution possible. We will end with poems from and about the Revolutionary War. Mondays, 9AM |
